Position Summary:
The Risk Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and execution of the Risk Management Program aimed at minimizing losses and managing claims in accordance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the identification and assessment of potential risks and exposures.
- Maintain both mandatory and voluntary incident reporting systems to evaluate unit-specific risk issues.
- Conduct statistical analyses to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the organization.
- Document trends and sentinel events, ensuring appropriate follow-up with relevant committees or individuals.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements related to the Risk Management Program.
- Develop and implement loss prevention initiatives.
- Facilitate risk education sessions for new employees to enhance awareness of potential hazards.
- Act as a resource for clinical staff regarding risk-related legal inquiries.
- Coordinate and lead root cause analysis projects for significant incidents.
- Manage claims control processes and documentation related to compensable events.
- Ensure representation at mediations and trials as directed by legal counsel.
- Oversee the patient grievance process in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitor compliance with Ethics, Rights, and Responsibilities standards.
- Serve as the Ethics Forum Chairperson, coordinating educational resources.
- Engage with leadership to align risk management functions and review reports.
- Present risk information to relevant committees to support performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the development of policies that reflect Risk Management principles.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in using electronic medical record systems.
- Associate's Degree required.
- Minimum of three years of experience in risk management or a related field.
- Registered Nurse (RN) preferred.
- Certification in risk management from an accredited program within one year of employment.
