Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Composite Materials Engineer to enhance our advanced composites manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our engineering team, you will:
- Assess alternative composite materials and processes to enhance performance through comprehensive trade studies and testing.
- Lead the development of innovative manufacturing processes, leveraging both current and emerging techniques to meet the objectives of new initiatives.
- Contribute to the design and development of advanced composite hardware, ensuring materials meet specific RF property requirements.
- Support business development efforts and proposal submissions.
- Utilize simulation tools to optimize curing processes for composite materials.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to establish material and process specifications, drawing from industry standards and engineering expertise.
- Conduct investigations into material failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions through thorough analysis and testing.
- Develop and execute qualification plans for composite materials, including fabrication and testing protocols.
- Engage in Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance production quality and reduce costs.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or PhD in engineering or a related field, along with progressive engineering experience:
- Six or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree.
- Four or more years of experience with a master’s degree.
- Two or more years of experience with a PhD.
Experience may be substituted for educational qualifications. Candidates must possess a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them effectively in a dynamic environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in developing composite structures, particularly with low observable materials, and knowledge of corrosion-resistant materials are highly desirable. Familiarity with MIL-STD-1568 and experience in manufacturing plan execution will be advantageous.
Salary:
Compensation ranges from $98,100 to $171,398, with travel requirements and relocation assistance available.
