Adjunct Faculty Position in Physics and Astronomy

We are seeking highly qualified individuals to fill part-time adjunct faculty positions in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. These positions are non-tenure-track appointments for the fall semester 2024 and possibly for the spring semester 2025, with possible extension as needed by the department.
The primary role of this position is to teach, and a typical appointment would be one to two classes a semester. Applicants should be able to teach introductory physics courses, demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse student population, and show evidence of teaching excellence.
Responsibilities- Develop and teach courses in Physics and Astronomy
- Demonstrate a high command of the subject matter
- Deliver courses clearly to students
- Help students fulfill their academic needs
- Assess and grade student learning
- Hold office hours
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited university
- A minimum of one year of experience teaching a diverse group of students at the undergraduate level
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota, Duluth offers B.S. and B.A. degrees in Physics, a BS in Engineering Physics, and a M.S. in Physics. The department has 14 full-time faculty and research strengths in astrophysics, particle physics, condensed matter physics, and physical oceanography/limnology.
