Primary ObjectiveThis role will deliver tax expertise for specific functional or operational tax activities.
Generally, a Senior Tax Analyst will:
(1) oversee the work of junior tax personnel, (2) ensure timely and accurate completion of filing obligations and financial statement tax disclosures for various business segments, (3) respond to or guide staff in addressing tax and/or financial statement audits of the organization and its subsidiaries, (4) analyze and quantify the tax implications of current tax regulations and proposed legislative changes, (5) conduct tax research under the supervision of senior tax professionals, (6) identify advantageous or simplified alternative reporting positions for assigned functions or business units, and (7) create tax planning strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Incumbents will concentrate on both Tax Accounting and Tax Compliance.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Ensure the completion of tax accounting (ASC 740) for the organization and its subsidiaries, encompassing financial statement and regulatory tax disclosures.
Lead efforts to manage tax obligations (e.g., determining book/tax discrepancies and permanent and temporary differences) for financial forecasting and strategic planning for assigned business units, entities, projects, and other responsibilities.
Monitor, identify, research, quantify, and effectively communicate appropriate tax provision and return reporting positions and filing obligations arising from business activities and planning strategies implemented for assigned business units, entities, and responsibilities.
Coordinate and review the organization's responses to the financial statement auditor's and tax authority auditor's information and data requests and proposed adjustments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Ensure the timely completion of tax returns, estimated tax payments, including partnerships, exempt organizations, trusts, pension plans, and limited liability companies.
Investigate and maintain awareness of existing and emerging tax laws, regulations, and rulings, particularly as they pertain to assigned tasks and entities, including researching and quantifying any tax impact.
Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration. Required
Master's degree in Tax or Accounting. Preferred
Experience
5 years of experience preferably with a large CPA firm or corporate tax department. Required
Skills and Competencies
Solid working knowledge in at least one of the following tax functions and have taken affirmative steps toward developing such knowledge in another: domestic compliance, international compliance, audit, tax accounting, regulatory, sales use tax, property tax, and customs/tariffs duties.
Understanding and application of Alteryx (or other ETL) is a plus.
Basic tax research skills and experience using tax research tools, such as RIA Checkpoint, BNA, or CCH.
Strong written and verbal communication skills along with basic project management and presentation skills are essential.
We offer a hybrid work environment.
Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
