Position SummaryThe Facilities Plumber is responsible for overseeing the daily operations related to plumbing and utility maintenance. This includes the planning and utilization of materials, as well as the inspection of plumbing systems to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations within the medical facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate and schedule the activities of skilled trades personnel in the maintenance and repair of healthcare facilities.
- Monitor work orders to ensure projects are completed efficiently, with appropriate allocation of labor, supplies, and materials.
- Guide staff in safe and effective work practices to ensure the well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.
- Conduct thorough inspections of work sites to verify compliance with job specifications.
- Recommend and implement policies and procedures for the plumbing department.
- Estimate the necessary equipment parts and materials for assigned tasks.
- Maintain effective communication with vendors, contractors, and departmental staff to coordinate repair and maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work adheres to the standards set by regulatory agencies such as the Joint Commission and NFPA.
- High school diploma or GED; college education preferred.
- 3-5 years of plumbing experience, with a preference for hospital settings.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding the English language.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and adapt to varying temperature conditions.
- Capability to maneuver large vehicles within facility constraints.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
- Flexibility to bend and reach as required.
