Job Title: Die Maker

We are seeking a skilled Die Maker to join our team at Pactiv Evergreen. As a Die Maker, you will be responsible for designing and producing cutting and folding dies, as well as counter plates, to meet the quality standards of our finished products.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up dies according to layout and specifications
  • Use judgment to plan work for accurate and efficient production of dies and counter plates
  • Design and develop sample cartons of all types with assistance
  • Design dies according to layout and specifications
  • Plan work for accurate and efficient production of dies, including repair work
  • Assist with maintaining inventories of dies and die materials
  • Assist with make ready
  • May make suggestions to change layout for maximum efficiency
  • Provide innovative solutions for production problems
  • Work without supervision and have no helpers
  • Avoid waste by proper handling of die materials and dies
  • Consistently operate common trade tools in a safe manner at or above standard levels of operation considering waste, efficiency, and utilization
  • Avoid damage to flatbed press, grinders, benders, and common trade tools by proper operation
  • Able to communicate effectively, get along with coworkers, management, and deal effectively and professionally under pressure
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree or 2 years related experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, micrometers, and calipers
  • Requires working knowledge of all styles and types of folding cartons and box board
  • Knowledge of how to use hand tools
  • Ability to use hand tools to remove, install, and adjust parts
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Previous experience working as a tool and die maker
  • Operating knowledge of circular and jog saw; drill, drill press, grinder, rule benders, and cutters, micrometer, dividers, and drafting table
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
  • Frequent walking and constant standing
  • Frequent repetitive twisting or pressure of hands or wrists
  • Occasional heavy lifting ranging from lbs.
  • Occasional lifting from ankle/bench height
  • Occasional pushing/pulling of 30 lbs.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders, stooping, kneeling
  • Frequent exposure to fumes
  • Must be able to work around operational machinery
  • Occasional exposure to dust
  • The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels
  • Able to work with dust from paper converting process
  • The employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and lift trucks
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to products such as degreasers and silicone sprays
  • Required to wear steel-toed shoes, bump cap, hair net, ear plugs, and safety glasses in manufacturing area and beard net required
  • Ambient temp and humidity may be elevated during the summer months
