Department Overview
The Manufacturing division plays a crucial role in ensuring that our innovative products meet the high standards of quality and performance we uphold. This team consists of engineers who design large-scale production systems and quality assurance tools, as well as hands-on associates managing our extensive inventory flow.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Operating diesel tractors and trailers within the DISH yard and at local vendor sites.
- Assisting with loading and unloading tasks as necessary.
- Performing warehouse duties as required during shifts.
- Handling shipping and receiving tasks as needed.
- Utilizing material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Understanding and adhering to maintenance and safety standards for tractor-trailer operations in compliance with state DOT regulations.
- Maintaining organization within the trailers and managing traffic flow in the yard.
- Ensuring cleanliness and orderliness of the yard and surrounding areas.
- Interacting effectively with all levels of staff and company personnel.
- Demonstrating strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Meeting attendance requirements, which may occasionally involve overtime.
- Exhibiting proficiency in English for communication, reading, and interpreting safety rules and operational instructions.
- Meeting DISH’s performance expectations, including applicable metrics and productivity standards.
Physical Requirements
This role may require:
- Prolonged standing, walking, and manual dexterity.
- Lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Performing tasks that involve bending, stooping, or reaching.
- Using hand tools and equipment for assembly and disassembly.
- Utilizing a computer mouse, keyboard, and other office equipment.
Sensory Requirements
While performing job duties, the employee will need to:
- Communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Comprehend and act upon verbal and written instructions.
- Possess sufficient vision to inspect products for quality and identify defects.
Work Environment
The employee may be exposed to:
- A warehouse environment with varying weather conditions.
- Moderate noise levels.
- Working at heights and navigating narrow aisles.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:
- Experience with warehouse management systems and basic computer software.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and solve standard problems.
- Knowledge of state DOT requirements for maintaining CDL qualifications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret safety and operational documents.
- Mathematical skills for basic calculations and data interpretation.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED, along with 1-3 years of relevant experience, is preferred.
Certifications
CDL "A" certification is required where applicable, along with a valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record.
