Shore Tankerman

We are seeking a highly skilled Shore Tankerman to join our team at Kirby Corporation. As a Shore Tankerman, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient loading and discharging of oil, refined, and petrochemical cargoes.

• Prepare barges for loading and discharging operations
• Communicate effectively with dock personnel to ensure a smooth transfer of product
• Ensure that all personnel involved in the transfer understand the product, its handling, and protection
• Work a rotating 6 days on, 3 days off schedule

• Walk 2-3 miles per day
• Step 2ft vertical and 2ft horizontal
• Reach and extend arms fully in a horizontal and vertical plane
• Climb a 90-degree vertical ladder 25-30 ft
• Lift 60-75 pounds and carry it approximately 500 ft

• Must possess a valid and current merchant mariners document with a Tankerman's endorsement
• Must have a current and valid driver's license
• Must pass a company-approved test and complete Kirby Corporation's training school for Tankermen
• Must be able to pass certification requirements of 46 CFR Part 197 Subpart C Benzene
• Must be able to satisfy all United States Coast Guard Chemical Drug Testing Programs for Vessel Personnel

Must be able to work in a harsh environment, including extreme temperatures, rain, ice, sleet, wind, wave action, and long hours during transfers. Must be able to use firefighting/spill containment equipment, communicate with dock personnel, maintain documentation, and assist in training new personnel.

SHORE TANKERMAN: A Tankerman's License is REQUIRED. TANKERMAN TRAINEE: No License Required.
