Shore Tankerman

We are seeking a highly skilled Shore Tankerman to join our team at Kirby Corporation. As a Shore Tankerman, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient loading and discharging of oil, refined, and petrochemical cargoes.

• Prepare barges for loading and discharging operations
• Communicate effectively with dock personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations
• Conduct regular inspections of barges and rigging to identify potential hazards
• Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency
• Collaborate with other team members to achieve company goals and objectives

• Valid and current merchant mariners document with a Tankerman's endorsement
• Current and valid driver's license
• Ability to pass a company-approved test and complete Kirby Corporation's training school for Tankermen
• Ability to pass certification requirements of 46 CFR Part 197 Subpart C Benzene
• Ability to satisfy all United States Coast Guard Chemical Drug Testing Programs for Vessel Personnel

As a Shore Tankerman, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often in harsh weather conditions. You will be required to wear protective equipment, including gloves, goggles, rubber boots, and a hard hat. You will also be required to work at heights and in confined spaces.

• Ability to lift 60-75 pounds and carry it approximately 500 ft.
• Ability to climb a 90-degree vertical ladder 25-30 ft.
• Ability to walk 2-3 miles per day.
• Ability to extend arms fully, throughout a normal range of motion both in a horizontal and vertical plane.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous experience as a Shore Tankerman or in a related field is preferred.
