Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Monitor Technician to join our team at ProMedica Health System. As a Monitor Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by accurately monitoring and recording cardiac rhythms, responding to life-threatening dysrhythmias, and communicating effectively with healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe and record cardiac rhythms, accurately calculating rates, PR intervals, and QRS intervals.
  • Report rhythms according to site origins and notify appropriate RNs of life-threatening dysrhythmias.
  • Transcribe physician orders into computer and unit records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Act as the unit's communication source, providing a smooth flow of patient care and keeping families informed of patient status.
  • Answer patient call lights, relay messages, and page employees and physicians as needed.
  • Gather and prepare file charts, records, and other documents for patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of ProMedica's dysrhythmia course with an 85% passing grade.
  • Current BCLS certification and other unit/hospital-specific education requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with hospital personnel, patients' families, patients, physicians, and contacts outside the hospital.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with computer order entry and knowledge of medical/technical terms.
Working Conditions

This role requires flexibility to work varying schedules, including overtime and shift durations that exceed the assigned status for shift length and/or hours per week. The ability to work under stressful situations, remain calm, and maintain accuracy is essential.
