Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Music Instructor to join our team at The Salvation Army USA Central Territory. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching private music lessons to students of various ages and skill levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach individual and group music lessons to students of various ages and skill levels.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and assessments for music lessons.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with schools and community organizations to promote music programming.
  • Participate in recruitment and outreach efforts to attract new students and promote the music program.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to the development of the music program.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Music or equivalent qualified performance experience.
  • Three years of teaching experience, either in a classroom setting or private/group lessons.
  • Record of musical performance experience.
  • Evidence of experience in curriculum development.
Competencies and Skills
  • Ability to work with children, parents, and staff in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Performance experience in individual content area of teaching.
  • Working knowledge of music literature.
  • Philosophy of education and child development consistent with that of The Salvation Army.
  • Positive attitude and ability to be flexible.
  • Willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
Working Conditions

This job is performed in an office environment at normal room temperature. The noise level in this work environment is usually low. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time of outdoor special events and community center activities.
