Music Instructor

Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a qualified Music Instructor to teach private music lessons to students of various ages and skill levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with children and adults.

Responsibilities:

• Teach private music lessons to students of various ages and skill levels.
• Develop and implement curriculum and assessments for music lessons.
• Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with schools and organizations to promote music programming.
• Recruit and outreach to potential students and their families.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Music or equivalent qualified performance experience.
• Three years of teaching experience, preferably in a classroom setting or private/group lessons.
• Record of musical performance experience.
• Evidence of experience in curriculum development.

Competencies and Skills:

• Ability to work with children, parents, and staff in a leadership capacity.
• Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
• Performance experience in individual content area of teaching.
• Working knowledge of music literature.
• Philosophy of education and child development consistent with The Salvation Army's mission.
• Positive attitude and ability to be flexible.
• Willingness to promote The Salvation Army's mission.

Working Conditions:

This position is performed at the Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division Kroc Center in an office environment at normal room temperature. The noise level in this work environment is usually low.
