Job Summary

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician I to join our team in Ocoee, FL. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing environmental-control systems, utilizing your knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mount compressors and condenser units on platforms or floors, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment.
  • Install evaporator units in chassis or in air-duct systems, using hand tools.
  • Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
  • Cut and thread pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
  • Join tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solder joints, using a torch, forming a complete circuit for refrigerant.
  • Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to a power source.
  • Install air and water filters in completed installations.
  • Inject a small amount of refrigerant into a compressor to test systems and add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure.
  • Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure proper operation.
  • Test joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or a soap-and-water solution.
  • Wrap pipes in installation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands, as applicable to minor repairs.
  • Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
  • Perform heating and cooling water treatment, checking for target pH and chemical concentration levels as determined by a heating and cooling water chemist and adjust treatment chemical levels as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and other technical documents.
  • Receive and complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner, completing forms and checklists manually on paper and digitally.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and mentorship or guidance to technician teammates.
  • Ascend ladders and lifts, as necessary.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion to ensure areas are clean.
  • Perform all other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Possess an active EPA 608 Universal License (or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Possess own position-related hand tools for use on the job site.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Be able to lift 50-60 pounds.
  • Have successful results of pre-employment screenings, including a federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Be able to obtain facility/site security and access credentials.
  • Be able to work alternate shifts, overtime, nights, and weekends as scheduled or as needed.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HVAC or industry certifications.
  • Electrical licenses or certifications.
  • Experience in installation, programming, and troubleshooting of Building Automation Control Systems (BACs).
Location Requirements

The position will primarily work onsite in Ocoee, FL.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $22/hr - $31/hr
