Position Summary
This entry-level role involves supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of AES Clean Energy, Energy Management, SCADA, Telecommunications, and various technology systems that oversee and regulate renewable energy generation assets. These systems are vital for the effective operation of the electrical grid.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in configuring, installing, and maintaining servers, storage solutions, network devices, and software to ensure optimal performance of energy systems.
- Participate in on-call support rotations, addressing issues such as resetting remote services, troubleshooting outages, and ensuring prompt resolution of technical problems.
- Support 24/7 operational systems utilized by various teams including Generation field, engineering, and dispatch staff.
- Collaborate with users to leverage technology for enhancing operational efficiency and customer service.
- Engage with colleagues, vendors, and external partners to gather and share information, coordinate projects, and resolve conflicts.
- Create and maintain documentation for current and future IT configurations.
- Evaluate new technology offerings from vendors to determine their relevance and applicability to existing systems.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly regarding cybersecurity and NERC CIP standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience in designing and implementing virtual environments and understanding network fundamentals.
- Strong technical knowledge of hardware, software, and overall technology systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% as required.
- Availability for on-call support one week per month.
- 0 to 3 years of experience in operational technology is preferred.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with VMWare and Windows server management.
- Understanding of networking design, including VLANs and subnetting.
- Proven troubleshooting skills and logical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to comply with safety regulations and wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
