Job Summary

The J.R. Simplot Company is a leading global food and agriculture company seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic Class AA to join our team at our Moses Lake, WA facility. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all equipment on the premises, utilizing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting techniques to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Safe Operation: Maintain alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of moving equipment and other potential safety hazards in a production plant.
  • Effective Communication: Ensure necessary level of communication is maintained with the appropriate personnel.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the efficient operation of all equipment on the premises by using preventative maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Compliance and Quality: Ensure all equipment overhauls, repairs, installations or modifications are completed in a timely manner and comply with industry standards and codes as related to safety and quality.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Utilize computer and computer programs to communicate, document, and track shift information and ensure that all documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Training and Development: Ensure attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.
  • Team Collaboration: May assist in training other personnel and maintain Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience: Must have a minimum of 6 months mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience or equivalent education.
  • Skills: Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics; Basic electrical repair in an industrial/manufacturing environment; Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings and write detailed repair reports; Ability to analyze and make decisions; Ability to diagram equipment control problems; Strong verbal and written English communication skills; Good organizational and planning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with 480-volt power and 24 control voltages to 120 volt electrical troubleshooting
  • Program and trouble shoot Allen Bradley SLC500 and MicroLogix series

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting and Moving: Lift and move heavy equipment
  • Working at Heights: Climb ladders and work in high, precarious places

Working Environment

  • Exposure to Elements: May be exposed to wet or humid conditions; May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions; May be exposed to high noise environments; May be exposed to chemicals used in the process; Could be in temperatures of -5 degrees
