Job Overview
Under the guidance of the Chief Housekeeper, the Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for ensuring that a designated number of guest cabins, crew quarters, communal spaces, and work areas are kept in pristine condition and maintained promptly. These areas should be equipped with necessary supplies, company materials, and amenities to ensure the utmost satisfaction of guests and crew members, surpassing their expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Introduce yourself to guests and outline the services you will provide during their stay.
- Familiarize yourself with guest names in your assigned area and use them in daily interactions.
- Maintain safe and sanitary conditions at all times, adhering to all relevant guidelines.
- Thoroughly clean guest and crew cabins daily, including private balconies.
- Report any maintenance issues identified in assigned cabins or public areas promptly.
- Properly stock and manage cleaning carts as directed.
- Ensure that designated information and amenities are placed in guest cabins.
- Stay informed about cruise events and programs to assist guests with inquiries.
- Help in the removal of room service items from guest cabins to designated locations.
- Assist in managing inventory of linens and toiletries, ensuring proper storage of used items.
- Clean hallways, carpets, and change light bulbs in assigned areas as directed.
- Support fellow crew members in their duties to achieve overall service excellence.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with guests and colleagues.
- Participate in monthly inventory checks as assigned.
- Depending on the vessel, assist in other areas of the housekeeping department as needed.
- Attend all meetings scheduled by the Chief Housekeeper or senior management.
- Read and adhere to all directives issued by company management.
- Engage in all mandated safety drills and emergency procedures as required.
- Participate in embarking duties such as loading and unloading luggage as necessary.
- Perform additional tasks as required to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Professional Certifications:
Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) if applicable.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels.
- Capable of planning, organizing, and completing work independently.
- Must maintain a neat and professional appearance.
Experience:
Two to four years of experience in a similar role preferred, with cruise industry experience being an advantage.
Physical Requirements:
- Must pass mandated physical examinations.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
Other Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated.
