Position Overview

As a key member of Peraton, you will serve as an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) within our SITE III JIOC Contract.

Role Summary:

Your role is essential in enhancing the security posture of various applications that facilitate intelligence operations for Combatant Commands and Federal Agencies. This position emphasizes the coordination, maintenance, and improvement of intelligence operations that directly support analysts, operations, and collection managers.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement security measures for network systems, ensuring adherence to cybersecurity regulations.
  • Support testing and validation processes in a controlled environment while managing security considerations in live environments.
  • Work closely with the ISSO to conduct security evaluations utilizing SIEM tools, vulnerability assessments, and DISA STIG compliance checks.
  • Integrate security requirements through DevSecOps and SecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Establish and evaluate system-level Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) requirements and apply best security practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in system security engineering with a solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in SIEM tools such as Splunk, vulnerability analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to manage security initiatives and oversee technical aspects of security audits.

Essential Qualifications:

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Experience in supporting Assessment and Authorization (A&A) and information assurance processes, utilizing RMF; a Bachelor's degree is required; 8 years of experience may substitute for a Master's degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (consideration at Staff level with relevant experience).
  • Experience collaborating with software developers and architects to understand security requirements.
  • Experience advising application developers on security policies, identifying security needs, and providing technical direction.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs and STIG Viewer.
  • Hands-on experience in creating and validating control implementations and testing procedures.
  • Understanding of current security threats and protocols.
  • DoD Certified 8570 IA Technical (IAT)/IA Management (IAM) Level 2 Certification (e.g., Security+).
  • Experience with RMF and Xacta.
  • Active TS clearance adjudication with the ability to obtain SCI and polygraph.
  • Willingness to work 100% onsite in a secure environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS/Google cloud-hosted information systems or applications.
  • Familiarity with Redhat or CentOS Linux operating systems.
  • Experience in a DevSecOps environment and toolchain.
  • Experience in developing security tools and processes for scanning, testing, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Involvement in planning and managing configuration changes for major applications across multiple networks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
