The Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering care to patients transitioning from a higher level of medical attention, such as an ICU, to a more stable environment. The responsibilities include:
- Monitoring patients with intricate medical conditions requiring vigilant observation.
- Administering prescribed medications and treatments.
- Evaluating patient conditions and communicating any changes to the healthcare team.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Assisting in diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Upholding patient confidentiality and adhering to healthcare regulations.
- Educating patients and their families regarding their health conditions and treatment plans.
- Supporting patients with daily living activities while ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- An active RN license in the state of practice.
- 1-2 years of nursing experience in a stepdown or ICU setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations.
