Job Title: Psychiatric Technician (Safety)

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Technician (Safety) is a critical member of the healthcare team at Centinela State Prison, providing high-quality patient care and support services to individuals with mental health needs. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to deliver basic level nursing care, behavioral interventions, and psychiatric support to patients in a correctional setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic level nursing care, including vital signs, wound care, and medication administration
  • Implement behavioral interventions, such as crisis management and de-escalation techniques
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care coordination
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes

Requirements:

  • Valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced correctional environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based setting
  • Basic life support certification

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a correctional setting, which may involve exposure to violent or aggressive behavior. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a high-stress environment and maintain a calm and professional demeanor in challenging situations.
