About the Role

The After Stay Clinician is a vital member of our team at Elmcrest Children's Center, responsible for providing clinical support to youth and families during and after their stay in our Children's Crisis Respite program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Documentation: Perform thorough clinical assessments and maintain accurate documentation to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
  • Treatment Planning: Collaborate with the Crisis Respite Clinician to develop and implement effective treatment plans that address the unique needs of each youth and family.
  • Family Therapy: Provide family therapy during the youth's stay and for up to 90 days after discharge, focusing on building strong relationships and promoting healthy communication.
  • Individual Therapy: Offer individual therapy sessions to youth during their stay and after discharge, addressing specific challenges and promoting personal growth.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide therapeutic support during youth crises, utilizing de-escalation techniques to ensure a safe and calm environment.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Establish and maintain relationships with various individuals and agencies associated with the youth, facilitating a comprehensive support network.
  • Information Sharing: Provide respite staff with essential information related to treatment and casework, ensuring a seamless transition of care.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master's Degree in Social Work or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: New York State licensed in Social Work or another mental health profession.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional standing in the field, identifying areas for additional training and knowledge, and ensuring licensure is up-to-date.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, effectively conveying information to clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Time Management: Manage paperwork demands within established timeframes, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  • Relationship Building: Foster productive and professional relationships with all Elmcrest Children's Center staff, children, parents, and community members.
  • Ethics and Conduct: Uphold the highest ethical standards and conduct, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to agency policies.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift pounds without assistance, provide crisis de-escalation, and perform physical tasks such as sitting, squatting, and standing for extended periods.
