Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Music Therapist to join our team. As a Music Therapist, you will be responsible for setting goals and selecting activities to assist in consumer progress. You will work with individuals to develop communication, cognitive, motor, emotional, and social skills using techniques such as singing, listening, instrumental music composition, and creative movement.
Responsibilities- Provide written documentation of services and submit documentation in a timely fashion
- Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times, especially when interacting with individuals, parents, staff, and providers
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant and deal tactfully with clients, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
- Accept supervision, feedback from leadership, and work harmoniously with others
- Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in therapeutic interventions, treatments, technology, literature, practices, and regulations
- Play a key role in the therapeutic team and actively participate in team meetings
- Learn and maintain a strong knowledge base around tools, audio visuals, and musical instruments
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy or completion of an approved Music Therapy Equivalency Program
- Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC)
- 6 months of experience working in Music Therapy
- Training Requirements During Employment: Complete all assigned training, including the successful completion of the IFSSA/DDARS waiver training module
- Specific Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age, have CPR and First Aid certifications, be free from communicable diseases, and have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance
