Job Description:

The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for managing and improving the profitability and growth of the commercial operator portfolio for the Genie brand and other assigned brands. This position will work with sales to drive profitable growth and market share, as well as collaborate with finance, engineering, supply chain, and operations to drive annual margin improvements.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the Product Business Team and cross-functional managers, especially engineering and manufacturing.
  2. Drive cost reductions, quality improvements, reduce returns, and increase inventory turns.
  3. Develop and manage new product activities to ensure proper product introduction on time with appropriate marketing support.
  4. Create and own the 3-year product plan annually for commercial operator product lines, developing product category strategies for increasing product sales and margins.
  5. Analyze field input, market research, and competitive actions.
  6. Develop market preservation and growth strategies.
  7. Identify new channels with strategies to gain market share.
  8. Own the Voice of Customer – both customer and consumer.
  9. Translate market research into deliverable features and benefits that enhance the product value.
  10. Identify and develop product category extensions and evaluate opportunities for profitable commercialization.
  11. Serve as the internal and external representative for defined product offering, working with the sales channel and key customers to increase sales and profitability of product category.
  12. Support the sales team to develop sales tools and training.
  13. Work with brand management and sales to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer.
  14. Communicate product positions and advantages in the marketplace.
  15. Provide communication vehicles for programs and products.
  16. With Brand and Sales, develop promotional vehicles to drive incremental sales.
  17. Provide in-depth market, industry, and competitive analysis and positioning.
  18. Research market/consumers.
  19. Work with finance on measuring opportunities according to company metrics.
  20. Support standardization/cost reduction goals.
  21. Conduct product line rationalization to optimize product offering and performance.
Qualifications:

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years product management/marketing experience in consumer durable goods, preferably electrical/mechanical consumer goods.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment and sales organizations with multiple channels of distribution.
  • Business development and product marketing background, with experience developing product plans, strategy work, and new product development.
  • Knowledge of processes related to brand marketing, market research, sales training, and field communications.
  • Computer literate in MS Office products.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills – for both internal groups as well as clients and trade groups/seminars.
  • Good critical thinking skills.
  • Six Sigma training a plus.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Action and results-oriented.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements:

  • Normal office environment.
  • Moderate travel – 20-30.
