Job Summary

As a Forensic Mental Health Specialist with Sutter County, CA, you will play a critical role in providing clinical and risk assessments, completing mental health youth intake and treatment plans, and providing counseling services to individuals in the criminal justice system. This position requires a strong understanding of psychiatric terminology, treatment approaches, and laws related to the mentally disordered offender population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement psychiatric treatment plans for mental and substance use disordered offenders in the criminal justice system.
  • Screen and evaluate cases for referral to the Conditional Release Program.
  • Assure compliance with procedures and provide clinical supervision to lower-level staff.
  • Identify problems and evaluate alternatives, and present information, recommendations, treatment plans, and supporting documentation clearly and concisely.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the general public, courts, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, psychiatric nursing, or a related field.
  • Two years of clinical or psychiatric social work experience, with one year of experience providing direct services to the mentally disordered offender client population.
  • Valid California license as a Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or an Associate Clinical Social Worker, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, or Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor license.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to think and act quickly in emergencies, effectively deal with personal danger, and maintain mental capacity to exercise sound judgment and rational thinking under varied circumstances. The incumbent must be able to exert a small amount of physical effort in sedentary to light work involving moving from one area of the office to another and must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
