Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist - Microbiology to join our team at LabCorp. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing complex technical procedures and functions to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specimen Evaluation: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Instrumentation Management: Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Technical Decision Making: Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  • Quality Control: Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Supply Management: Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Specimen Processing: Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required or an MLS degree.
  • Certification: ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to work independently and within a team environment, proficient with computers, and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
  • Personal Qualities: High level of attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills, and flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
