Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Technician to join our team at Republic Airways. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for fabricating, installing, and repairing sheet metal equipment and fixtures with a focus on efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and install sheet metal parts, equipment, and products using knowledge of metallic and nonmetallic materials, machining, and layout techniques.
  • Plan, lay out, and shape sheet metal to meet specific requirements.
  • Operate sheet metal forming machines, breaks, shears, cutters, and crimpers safely and efficiently.
  • Verify that all calibrated tooling is current on its calibration before use and that materials and parts used are of a serviceable condition and correct effectivity for the aircraft.
  • Perform duties in all areas inside and outside the hangar as well as at the airport terminal.
  • Ensure that each part or component is effective for the aircraft on which it will be installed.
  • Adhere to material handling and control procedures specified in the GMM and by the equipment manufacturers.
  • Initiate material requests as needed.
  • Evaluate the area and equipment that will be utilized to ensure that safety is not compromised before performing any maintenance action.
  • Apply safety first at all times and maintain a clean, safe working environment throughout the work shift.
  • Update Supervisor on progress of work performed and review paperwork at the end of shift to ensure that all work accomplished is signed for prior to departing the maintenance facility.
  • Assist with completion of shift turnover reports in accordance with procedures in the GMM.
  • Complete all department internal company forms, maintenance records, documents, work orders, etc. including performing maintenance computer system transactions as required (MEL, DMI).
  • Provide coaching and on-the-job training as directed.
  • Adhere to established work schedule and participate in shift meetings and briefings as required.
  • Submit in writing any suggested changes in operational procedures that will enhance safety and cost-effective aircraft maintenance.
  • Access Company Intranet to become familiar with and utilize the GMM and aircraft manuals.
  • Ensure part effectivity is correct per aircraft.
  • Adhere to recurrent training, including required FAA AMT training, and keep necessary licenses and certifications up-to-date.
  • Read and acknowledge understanding of maintenance newsletters and Company Emails on a timely basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with an FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
  • Technical certification or experience as a sheet metal technician.
  • Able to read blueprints and use the tools related to the trade.
  • Previous experience as an A&P sheet metal mechanic or airline experience.
  • Experience using a computer to look up information and input data.
Work Environment

  • Work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Work with fumes or airborne particles.
  • Work in high, precarious places.
  • Work around toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Withstand risk of electric shock and work with explosives.
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions inside and outside an open air hangar as well as the airport terminal.
Travel Requirements

Able to travel up to 20% of the time, including overnight stays.
