Senior Substation Engineer

As a Senior Substation Engineer at Welty Energy, you will lead projects utilizing a team of substation engineers and designers to provide design services for our utility clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead substation projects with a team of designers and drafters
  • Prepare substation design packages, including physical design and protection and control design
  • Perform calculations and studies as required
  • Prepare equipment specifications
  • Coordinate design activities with civil/structural teams
  • Verify projects are following all applicable client standards
  • Perform QA/QC on design packages
  • Perform site visits when necessary
  • Interface with client's engineering groups and project management team to provide regular and timely updates
  • Lead and mentor junior team members
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals
  • Consult on internal projects when requested by the PM, Portfolio Manager, or Executive Vice President
  • Provide technical assistance to the Welty Project Management Team when requested
  • Support business development and marketing when requested
Expectations:
  • Adherence to Welty Core Values, OPTIC (Openness, Passion, Teamwork, Integrity, Customer Centricity)
  • Share knowledge and train oncoming Project Engineers
  • Establish trust and healthy rapport with client and contract engineer firms
  • Collaborate with Management Team to foster a productive and encouraging environment
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited university
  • 8+ years of experience as a Substation Engineer
  • PE license strongly preferred

Travel: 10-15% travel (project specific)
