Intake Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Intake LPN to join our team at New York Cancer & Blood Specialists. As an Intake LPN, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities:- Float between NYCBS locations as needed to ensure seamless patient care.
- Follow all New York Cancer and Blood Specialists policies and procedures to maintain a high level of patient satisfaction.
- Update and maintain electronic patient records, transitioning hard copy records to digital format as needed.
- Record patient information, including vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history prior to each appointment.
- Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments to ensure a comfortable and safe environment.
- Work in the front office, handling tasks such as answering phone calls and greeting patients as they enter the facility.
- Assist in maintaining medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed.
- Measure and record vital signs, and perform routine screening tests as required.
- Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint to ensure accurate patient information.
- Provide patient education on medications, disease management, home treatments, and special diets to promote patient empowerment.
- Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and perform basic lab tests as required.
- Perform phlebotomy and collect lab specimens as needed.
- Administer and document medication under a physician's order, adhering to the five medication rights to reduce medical errors.
- Current NYS LPN license is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Previous experience in a lead role or demonstrated potential to act in a lead capacity is preferred.
- Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals, are essential.
- Proficiency in OncoEMR is required.
- Travel to any of the NYCBS locations is necessary.
- Salary up to $36 per hour based on experience.
