Anesthesia Technician II Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Anesthesia Technician II to join our team at Texas Children's Hospital. As an Anesthesia Technician II, you will provide specialized support to our anesthesiologists and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

This role requires a high level of clinical expertise and the ability to work independently. You will be responsible for assisting with anesthesia-related procedures, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist anesthesiologists with preparation and placement of neurophysiologic monitors
  • Assist with induction by connecting patients to monitors
  • Assist with intubation and maintenance of patient airways
  • Assist with insertion of IVs and other invasive lines
  • Provide support to the patient care team throughout the case
  • Perform salvaged blood processing per protocol, as required by Department when needed
  • Assist anesthesiologists with volume infusions as directed during intraoperative procedures
  • Prepare and set up equipment, including anesthesia machines, monitors, and airways
  • Prepare IV, arterial line, fluid/blood warmer, and CVP setups
  • Prepare and assemble transducer lines and equipment necessary for invasive monitoring
  • Prepare age-appropriate equipment for fiber optic intubation
  • Provide troubleshooting to correct equipment problems
  • Perform complete standard Anesthesia Apparatus checkout
  • Assist with maintaining and evaluating anesthesia-related equipment
  • Evaluate, prepare, and set up equipment needed to perform out-of-department anesthesia procedures
  • Conduct other patient-related procedures
  • Set up, maintain, and transport specialty devices used in the clinical area
  • Transport patients from monitored beds to OR
  • Troubleshoot and correct monitoring equipment problems
  • Respond immediately to OR room calls that require assistance regarding supplies, pharmaceuticals, blood products, forms equipment, or other items required during the surgical procedure
  • Assist in the preparation and draping of patient invasive monitoring/procedures
  • Clean room and restock anesthesia machine prior to the patient entering the room
  • Stock the operating rooms, specialty carts, anesthesia carts, equipment rooms, and remote anesthesia areas with disposable/reusable supplies used by anesthesia
  • Supervise the maintenance of anesthesia equipment
  • Inventories and stocks anesthesia supplies consistent with departmental demands
  • Maintain an inventory of properly functioning anesthesia equipment in designated areas to track repairs
  • Organize, clean, and neatly maintain all shelves and drawers where anesthesia supplies are kept
  • Retrieve equipment and inspect for problems
  • Maintain sterile supplies within expiration dates
