Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Lab Technician - Core Testing to join our team at PeaceHealth. This part-time, 0.80 FTE, day position offers a competitive salary range of $31.26 – $46.93, with the hiring rate dependent on various factors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex laboratory procedures and tests in areas such as blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor, screen, and troubleshoot devices, tests, and procedures, recognizing anomalies and making corrections to ensure quality.
  • Collect, process, and perform moderate and high-complexity tests on specimens, completing all documentation for pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic activities.
  • Maintain equipment and records, monitoring tests and procedures to perform quality assurance activities related to test performance.
  • Provide guidance and direction to phlebotomy and specimen management teams, assist with department orientation for new caregivers and students, and consult with clinicians, supervisors, and other caregivers as needed.
  • Participate in department in-services and continuing education programs, attending lectures, workshops, and video presentations as required, and contribute to required competency assessment and proficiency testing activities.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited laboratory training program or equivalent education as defined by CLIA 42CFR Program or institution must be accredited by a regional or national accreditation agency.
  • 2 years of experience performing high-complexity testing in a clinical laboratory department, with new graduates considered.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) within 1 year.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to lift patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices, move around the area with occasional sitting, and perform fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment frequently.

Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles, as well as toxic or caustic chemicals, is also a requirement.
