The Surgical Technologist assists in surgical procedures under the supervision of surgeons and registered nurses, ensuring quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintaining a sterile field.

Responsibilities include checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables, performing appropriate counts, draping the sterile field, passing instruments to the surgeon and assistant during the procedure, preparing sterile dressing, and cleaning instruments for terminal sterilization.

A successful caregiver will:

  • Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs, and equipment are available.
  • Assist RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery.
  • Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients.
  • Maintain aseptic condition by the scrubbed surgical team throughout the procedure.
  • Participate in the intraoperative "timeout."
  • Collect, identify, and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and give them to the circulator for disposition.

To excel in this role, you must have:

  • Completion of a surgical technology program accredited through the CAAHEP or ABHES.
  • Or completion of a military surgical technology program.
  • Or certification as a Surgical Technologist (acceptable certifications include TS-C or CST).
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist.

In this role, you will be required to:

  • Lift and move patients safely.
  • Stand and walk extensively throughout the shift.
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Pull supply carts weighing over 75 pounds periodically.

You will need normal range corrected vision and hearing. Working irregular hours can be stressful, but it's essential for providing excellent care. Please be prepared to work in environments where you may be exposed to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

We require personal protective equipment (PPE) for our caregivers. You will follow standard precautions using PPE as needed.
