Senior Systems Safety Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Safety Engineer to join our team at ManTech. As a Senior Systems Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating and updating system safety documentation, drafting and coordinating orbital safety products, and providing acquisition support.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and update system safety documentation, including the System Safety Management Plan and Programmatic Environmental Safety and Health Evaluations.
- Draft and coordinate orbital safety products, including Space Debris Assessment Reports and Orbital Debris Mitigation Standard Practices.
- Provide acquisition support, including drafting and assessing safety-related content and requirements in acquisition request for proposal documents.
- Assist with debris characterization support, including coordination and facilitation of the DC Program Team.
- Perform general system safety tasks, including interpretation of requirements and assessment of contractor safety submittals.
- Develop and present technical summary reports, status reports, and other presentation materials as required.
- Interface with technical representatives, including other Assured Access to Space functional areas, Range Safety, and Government agencies.
- Support the Mishap Control Center, including preparing documentation and conducting MCC operations.
- Assess launch service provider hazard analyses and report on open launch and range safety items.
- Provide reviews, evaluation, and assessments of system hazard analyses, systems safety management plans, and compliance with industry standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 7 years of STEM experience in relevant fields, with at least 3 years of NSSL, Launch/Range, DoD, NASA, or industry equivalent systems safety experience.
- Relevant work experience in the military or industry may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
- Experience interfacing with computer-based database and schedule tools.
- Experience with MS Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat.
- Some CONUS travel required.
- US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DOD and Air Force system safety related documents, including AFI 91-202 and MIL-STD-882E.
- Experience applying system safety requirements and best practices to space and launch systems, ground site activities, or launch operations.
- Experience with Environmental Compliance/NEPA.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present information in virtual and in-person environments.
Clearance Requirements
- Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
Compensation
The projected compensation range for this position is $93,300.00-$155,200.00, depending on factors such as relevant work experience, skills, and competencies.
