Radiologic Imaging Specialist

**Job Summary**
We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Tech I to join our team at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. As a Radiologic Tech I, you will be responsible for preparing patients for and performing radiologic examinations under general supervision.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Prepares patients for and performs radiologic examinations, ensuring accurate and safe procedures.
* Utilizes ALARA and safety principles at all times, maintaining a safe working environment.
* Demonstrates flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with customers.
* Provides healthcare services in own job category to all age groups, demonstrating competence in interpersonal relationships.
* Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner, utilizing time between procedures to assist others, perform clerical duties, stock, transport, etc.
* Utilizes Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS.
* Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel in other areas of the hospital, maintaining good phone etiquette.
**Safety and Infection Control**
* Maintains a safe working environment, keeping work areas clean and free of hazards.
* Alerts appropriate resources of faulty or broken equipment, observing all safety guidelines.
* Recognizes and reports unsafe acts, adhering to infection control guidelines.
* Uses good handwashing technique, adheres to isolation policy, and cleans equipment between patients.
**Patient Care**
* Transports and moves patients using appropriate body mechanics and safety precautions.
* Demonstrates knowledge and practice of safe patient handling devices.
* Follows Universal Protocol by using two patient identifiers prior to working with a patient.
* Uses the appropriate hand-off communication techniques (SBAR) when bringing patients to and from the department.
* Provides patient and family with information/instructions regarding procedure, evaluating barriers to understanding.
* Evaluates patients' medical histories and clinical data.
* Completes the necessary paperwork and notes discrepancies according to departmental procedure.
* Determines need for translation services or communication aides and arranges for the appropriate resources to meet these needs.
**Equipment Operation and Maintenance**
* Operates all x-ray equipment and systems.
* Calibrates and maintains equipment for quality control.
* Selects exposure factors, positions, and consistently produces radiographic images of diagnostic quality.
* Performs portable procedures in high-stress environments, including Intensive Care Units, Surgery Suite, and Emergency Room.
* Administers contrast as needed per exam.
* Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic examinations and assists Radiologist during procedures.
**Education and Certification**
* Graduate from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
* License/Certification Requirements: ARRT License for Radiologic Technologist, Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT), Fluoroscopy License (new hires have 6 months from date of hire to obtain), BCLS or ACLS Certification.
**Compensation Range:** $50.19/hour
