Job Overview:


The University of Idaho seeks a highly skilled and experienced Lead Academic Advisor to join our team in Moscow, Idaho.


This is a full-time position that will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day operations of an academic advising team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating advisors in their assigned colleges and working closely with the Director of University Advising Services to ensure advisors continue to meet Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS), and Vandal Success and University policies, procedures, and expectations.



Responsibilities:

  • Providing support and education to elevate students' learning experience at the University of Idaho
  • Fostering student success by building positive and professional student relationships
  • Implementing proactive strategies that help students fulfill their educational goals
  • Content expertise in one or more college(s)/program(s) to help students select courses and engage in opportunities consistent with their developing goals and interests
  • Serving as a critical resource for students seeking information and clarification regarding university academic policies
  • Managing day-to-day operations of an academic advising team, including supervising and supporting advisors
  • Collaborating with university partners to ensure students have access to all campus support and enrichment opportunities


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Two years experience providing academic advising to undergraduate students at a higher education institution
  • Experience leading or developing academic advisors in their daily work
  • Strong organizational skills to successfully manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative with new and existing projects
  • Motivate, encourage, and support staff and students to recognize their potential and meet challenges
  • Able to display strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of University of Idaho academic rules and regulations for undergraduate level advising
  • Student development theory and advising best practices
  • Able to travel and work selected evenings and weekends


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience serving in an administrative role at an institution of higher education
  • Working successfully with diverse students and colleagues
  • Establishing and maintaining quality professional relationships
  • Serving in a supervisory capacity
  • Interacting with students, advisors, and faculty in respectful, intentional, and meaningful ways


Salary: $49,004.80 per year
