Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Career Development Specialist to join our team at the University of Chicago. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in supporting graduate students and recent alumni in their career development journey.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary career advisor to graduate students and recent alumni from programs at the University of Chicago, providing one-on-one advising and support in career exploration, networking, job document preparation, and negotiation.
  • Develop and maintain resources to help master’s students navigate their career at UChicago and beyond, including treks, workshops, career conversations, and other professional opportunities.
  • Build knowledge of career paths in academia, industry, nonprofits, and government, and communicate this information to students through various channels.
  • Serve as a liaison between UChicagoGRAD and various master’s programs, developing relationships with campus partners and collaborating on large-scale events.
  • Conduct mock interviews, review resumes and cover letters, and coordinate other interview-related programming in both individual and group settings.
  • Develop original content for career-related publications and assist with the editing and distribution of Career Services communications materials.

 

Requirements
  • Masters degree in student affairs or a relevant academic discipline.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with academic, industry, nonprofit, and government career options common for master's students.
  • Strong customer service orientation, excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience working in a team environment.
