Job Summary

Cleaver-Brooks Sales and Service, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Boiler Controls Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Field Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the readiness of customer equipment by wiring, firing, and testing boilers in the shop and field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Wire all controls and motors for watertube and firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Rebuild control valves and regulators.
  • Build and test control panels using engineering wiring schematics and layouts.
  • Build and test fuel skids using engineering wiring schematics and layouts.
  • Build and test condensate tanks and deaerators.
  • Trim out firetube and watertube boilers.
  • Perform start-up of rental boilers in the field.
  • Assist departments as required.
  • Read blueprints and wiring schematics.
  • Troubleshoot, fire, and set combustion on all types of boilers, including superheaters, desuperheaters, and economizers.
  • Determine valve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and all other parts and accessories needed to fire any boiler.
  • Troubleshoot and set combustion on boilers with pneumatic and electrical controls.
  • Train other employees on the operation and controls of boilers.
  • Maintain condition of and inventory of all tools and monitor.
  • Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.
  • Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Support peers and management with internal and external projects.
  • Adhere to company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years of boiler experience required working with PLCs, transformers, transmitters, and other boiler controls.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Broad knowledge of boiler controls.
  • Mechanical and electrical background required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to retrofit control systems in the field.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems without the appropriate schematic.
