The Finance and Accounting Internship offers a unique opportunity to distinguish yourself by gaining hands-on experience in the field. Our 12-week, paid internship program is designed to expose you to various finance and accounting practices within a dynamic business environment. Interns will collaborate closely with seasoned professionals and engage in daily financial operations, analysis, and reporting. Additionally, those at the Senior standing will have the chance to apply for Navistar's full-time Finance and Accounting Leadership Development Program (FALD).
Responsibilities:
Depending on your assignment, your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Financial Analysis: Assist in collecting and analyzing financial data to create reports, conduct variance analysis, and identify trends that support business decisions.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes by aiding in data collection and analysis to ensure precise and timely budget projections.
- Financial Reporting: Take part in the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and other necessary financial analyses.
- Financial Record-keeping: Help maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, transaction entries, and reconciliations within accounting systems.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Support the accounts payable and receivable processes by assisting with invoice processing, vendor communication, and customer billing.
- Internal Audit Support: Aid in preparations for internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial transactions.
- Compliance & Regulation: Develop an understanding of financial regulations and assist in ensuring compliance with relevant laws and accounting standards.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and operations, to gather financial data and comprehend its impact on the overall financial landscape.
- Relationship Building & Networking: Establish long-term relationships with fellow interns and current professionals while learning about development culture and career opportunities at Navistar.
- Financial Software & Tools: Engage with various financial software and tools utilized in the company and participate in training sessions as necessary.
- Ad-hoc Projects: Contribute to special finance and accounting projects assigned by the finance team to gain exposure to different facets of financial management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
Additional Requirements:
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
Desired Skills:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- At least Sophomore standing for undergraduates at the time of application.
- Able to commit to at least 12 weeks of internship.
- Previous relevant internships.
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications and general computer skills.
