About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist II to join our team at Methodist Hospital Texsan. As a key member of our Laboratory Department, you will be responsible for performing complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease, analyzing and assuming accountability for accurate test results, maintenance of complicated instruments, and monitoring quality control and quality assurance programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specimen processing and testing independently to include moderate and high complexity testing. Analyze test results and assume accountability for accuracy.
  • Understand, perform, and practice preventive maintenance on equipment; troubleshoot and take corrective action. Demonstrate pro-active problem-solving skills to include identifying a problem and taking appropriate action; know when to seek guidance to complete troubleshooting protocol.
  • Understand, perform, and practice quality control management to include running controls, evaluating data, documentation of data, and taking corrective action as required. Communicate any relevant QC information to Supervisor or Manager.
  • Anticipate and evaluate need for new methods, instrumentation, and technology in terms of customer need, cost benefit and revenue generation, and inform management about findings.
  • Assure compliance with accrediting agencies. Act as a resource to customers both within the department and outside the department.
  • Manage assigned projects to include developing a plan, coordinating necessary resources, setting project timelines, keeping Manager informed of progress, and completing project within established time limits.
Requirements
  • Minimum Education and Experience: A. High school diploma (or equivalent), with 15 years of clinical lab experience OR B. Associates Degree with minimum 2 years experience in Clinical Lab setting. -OR- C. Bachelor's Degree required with clinical lab experience preferred. Minimum License and Certificates Required: One of the following certifications is required: MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(AAB), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW), CLT(NCA), MLT(ASCP), or MLT(AMT) Certification is waived for those with 5 years of lab experience
