Position Overview

The Senior Mechanic plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a variety of engines and heavy-duty machinery. This position requires advanced expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, particularly for gasoline, propane, and diesel engines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on trucks and heavy off-road equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all vehicles and construction machinery.
  • Execute state or pre-state safety inspections to ensure compliance and safety standards.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to assess and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Guide and mentor junior mechanics or assistants, providing training on best practices and procedures.
  • Test machinery for optimal performance and safety.
  • Manage the daily refueling and upkeep of equipment at project sites.
  • Respond to road calls and conduct field repairs as required.
  • Order necessary parts and supplies to facilitate repairs and maintenance.
  • Design and fabricate specialized projects for vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or GED. Alternatively, five years of relevant full-time experience may be considered in lieu of a diploma.

A minimum of four years of experience as a full-time mechanic is required, with a preference for candidates with diesel and heavy truck/off-road experience.

A valid Class C driver’s license is mandatory upon hire, with a Class A CDL, including a combination tanker and hazmat endorsement, required within eight months of employment.

Certifications in specific trades or training, such as A/C or ASE coursework, are preferred. Additionally, a Vehicle Inspection License and Welder Certification are advantageous.

Experience with Controlled Area Network (CAN) systems and other technician certifications are also preferred.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to repair complex off-road construction equipment, with specialty certifications being a plus.
