Position Overview:
This role encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at delivering comprehensive medical care to patients, particularly focusing on the diagnosis and management of both prevalent and intricate health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and manage a variety of diseases and functional disorders affecting multiple systems, including but not limited to circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, and musculoskeletal systems.
- Provide immediate assessment and stabilization for patients presenting with urgent medical conditions.
- Conduct diagnostic tests and interpret results to identify and address patients' health concerns, including laboratory tests and imaging studies.
- Perform thorough medical histories and physical examinations, ensuring a structured approach to patient care that includes observation, planning, and evaluation.
- Facilitate referrals to specialized healthcare providers as necessary.
- Manage chronic illnesses in adult patients, offering ongoing support and treatment plans.
- Deliver preventive health counseling and educate patients and their families regarding treatment options.
- Address emotional and behavioral health issues through appropriate diagnosis and management.
- Oversee health supervision visits, providing preventive guidance and screenings.
- Prioritize triage for patients experiencing life-threatening conditions.
- Offer counseling for common familial or marital issues.
- Administer adult immunizations and manage episodic illnesses in adults.
- Provide gender-specific health screenings and management for both male and female veterans.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory; non-citizens may only be considered when qualified citizens are unavailable.
  • Applicants selected for employment in designated testing positions must undergo urinalysis for illegal drug screening.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after December 31, 1959.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential.
  • Probationary period may be required.
  • Background and security investigations will be conducted.
  • Completion of an online onboarding process is required for selected candidates.
  • Passing a pre-employment physical examination is mandatory.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required for all healthcare personnel.
  • Compliance with the COVID-19 vaccination program is also mandatory for all healthcare personnel.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the basic and any additional requirements specified in the job announcement. Those in training or awaiting licensure may be considered for selection but cannot be hired until all criteria are fulfilled. Current VA physicians who meet previous qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A medical degree or equivalent from an accredited institution is necessary.
  • A current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States is required.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited specialty program is essential.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory.

Preferred Experience:
Board certification is preferred but not mandatory.
