Operations Supervisor

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee the collections activities in one or more lines of business, including commercial, residential, roll-off, and container delivery and pick up. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising drivers and helpers, working with the Operations Manager and General Manager to implement tactical initiatives, and ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Develop and communicate safety goals and objectives to the team.
  • Identify and mitigate unsafe conditions or situations on drivers' routes.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to eliminate unsafe conditions on new routes or for new customers.
  • Work with the maintenance department to ensure equipment is in working order and compliant with safety standards.
  • Oversee effective safety and accident prevention programs to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Engage employees in a culture of safety by demonstrating personal commitment and outreach.

Customer Experience:

  • Provide exceptional service to customers, meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Understand and meet missed pickup goals.
  • Resolve unusual service requests, equipment breakdowns, and schedule changes with timely communications.
  • Interact with customers to solve issues and improve the overall customer experience.
  • Serve as a positive representative of the Company to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Efficiency:

  • Establish productivity goals and manage labor hours and disposal expenses.
  • Lead drivers to exceed productivity goals and expectations.
  • Create, modify, and improve routes to maximize density and efficiency.
  • Reduce route hours through service conversions and container upsizing.
  • Execute operational plans to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Support maintenance and fleet quality initiatives.

Employee Engagement:

  • Create a collaborative team environment and drive employee engagement.
  • Build and develop talent on the team, understanding employees' career goals and providing coaching.
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to direct a large staff.
  • Process-oriented and results-driven, with a strong commitment to organizational success.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style, with a focus on hiring and developing high-performance teams.
  • 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
