Plasma Center Nurse Specialist

As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, you will play a vital role in supporting plasma center operations. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues.
You will be responsible for:
- Determining donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluating donor reactions, which occur at the facility, as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Referring to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Supporting the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Managing employee incidents and determining whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
- Being a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What You Bring to Takeda
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Current licensure or certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements (in the state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactory completion of the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
