Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Cartken is a pioneering startup at the forefront of last-mile delivery and autonomous robotics. Our team has expertise in solving complex challenges in autonomous vehicles, robotics, and operations at leading tech companies. We have robots operating globally, providing reliable and cost-effective delivery in various settings.

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our fast-paced team. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity and able to prioritize work among multiple simultaneous projects.

You will drive the development of new products and solutions to enable new use cases for customers. We expect strong ownership for delivering to our customer needs, including hands-on prototyping, PCB design, supplier management, and testing at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for autonomous robots, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with our distributed team to troubleshoot robot issues in the field and the factory.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-oriented solutions.
  • Manage suppliers and ensure quality standards and deadlines are met.
  • Support builds at off-site partner facilities to ensure smooth product launches.

Requirements

  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • BS/MS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or significant demonstrated project experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical design, validation, and integration of systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Proficient in PCB CAD software (Altium, Cadence, KiCad, etc).
  • Experience taking PCBs and cabling from concept to production, including sourcing manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of digital circuits.
  • Ability to travel to production and customer sites.
  • A self-starter & team player who is highly motivated to resolve problems and help the team succeed.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with ROS.
  • Linux skills with system knowledge.
  • Experience designing circuit boards and architecting systems in a mid/high volume robotics/automotive environment.
  • Understanding of communication protocols (such as CAN, I2C, SPI, MIPI, UART, etc).
  • Knowledge of electrical simulation software (SPICE, CST, etc).
  • Knowledge of BLDC motor control.
  • Experience characterizing and resolving EMI/EMC issues.
  • Experience working with Python and embedded C/C++ for firmware and driver development.
  • Experience with product certifications.
  • Experience with RF system design (GPS, LTE, WIFI), and FCC certification.
