Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Physician to join our team at the Department of Veteran Affairs. As a Primary Care Physician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to our nation's veterans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive medical care to patients, including history, physical examination, diagnosis, and initiation of medical treatment.
  • Initiate and facilitate treatment and transfer in emergency situations.
  • Follow-up office visits for existing medical problems and appropriate diagnostic test and medication adjustments.
  • Referral of patients as needed to appropriate specialists, health care facilities, and coordination of home health services.
  • Document assessments and plan of care for each patient in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Act as a consultant in clinical practice and may serve as a managing/supervising physician for physician assistants.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with other providers and disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical methods.
  • Abide by all Medical Center policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Primary Care.
  • Current and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other physicians, advanced practice nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, administrative staff, and a variety of allied health professionals.
  • Ability to navigate through windows-based computer programs and perform data entry.

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Contract Buy Out Program

This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years).
