Position Summary:
This role entails the comprehensive management and strategic oversight of market risk functions related to commodities within our organization.
Key responsibilities encompass the monitoring and adherence to market risk management policies, executing complex product approval processes, conducting model risk assessments, analyzing and reporting market risk, disseminating market risk reports, and collaborating with trading desks and other risk management and support teams (such as Compliance, Finance, Operations, etc.).
As a senior Market Risk Manager focusing on the Commodities sector, you will provide essential risk management oversight and analysis for a wide array of trading activities.
This position necessitates close collaboration with trading desks and other risk and support teams (including Finance, Quantitative Analysts, Technology, etc.) while also engaging with senior leadership in both risk management and trading on strategic initiatives.
Core Responsibilities:
- Evaluate market risk positions, especially under various risk scenarios, and challenge the trading desk when necessary. Maintain close communication with business units to grasp market trends and report exposures under differing market conditions.
- Recommend suitable market risk limits for the trading desk that align with the firm's risk appetite to senior management.
- Contribute to the enhancement of the firm's risk management capabilities.
- Assess risks associated with non-standard or structured trades and new products. Collaborate closely with business units and other support functions to ascertain the nature and magnitude of risks, ensuring they remain within the firm's risk appetite.
- Provide comprehensive explanations of the desk's market risk to senior management, the trading desk, and external regulators.
- Strong academic credentials, potentially including a postgraduate degree.
- Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated through various communication styles (both written and verbal).
- In-depth knowledge of financial markets, with a solid grasp of macroeconomic principles.
- Familiarity with financial derivatives and modeling techniques.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines.
- Previous experience as a Risk Manager directly engaging with front-line operations and conducting risk analysis is preferred.
