Join our team at Central Point School District 6 as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant. This role is a vital part of our educational services team, working closely with students with special needs in the area of speech and language communication.

About the Role:

The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will contribute to the assessment and treatment of students with speech and language challenges. This involves working independently, following standardized routines under close supervision, and adhering to policies, procedures, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Speech Language Pathologists with the assessment and treatment of students with speech and language challenges.
  • Provide direct treatment to students in accordance with an established instructional plan and under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Assist in planning appropriate interventions for identified students and collecting data to assess their effectiveness.
  • Document student progress toward instructional plan objectives.
  • Work with individuals or small groups of students to reinforce instruction from the Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Conduct speech and language screenings, without interpretation, in accordance with specified protocols.
  • Adapt instructional materials for teacher use in the classroom as determined by student needs.
  • Perform various clerical tasks, including maintaining student records and reports, preparing instructional and classroom materials, and maintaining speech and language equipment.
Requirements:
  • Must possess an associate's degree or other certification from an accredited speech language pathology assistant program.
  • Must possess an Oregon state speech-language pathology assistant certification.
  • Must possess an Oregon state driver's license.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow multi-step written and verbal instructions in English.
Working Conditions:

The Speech Language Pathology Assistant works primarily indoors, requiring the ability to speak with proper English enunciation, pronunciation, and grammar. The position also requires the ability to hear and write, as well as occasional kneeling, bending, or crouching. Potential exposures may include blood-borne pathogens and sick, injured, or agitated students.
