Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist II to join our team at the Austin State Supported Living Center. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for providing technical, clinical, and consultative pharmacy services to support the health and well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret provider orders, screening for possible interactions, polypharmacy, and/or allergies (DUR functions)
  • Dispense correct medications to residents using clinical skills to promote patient safety
  • Assist the Pharmacy Director in supervising the dispensing of drugs and direct activities involving pre-packaging, ordering, receiving, and properly storing drugs and supplies
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians in the absence of the Pharmacy Director and ensure pharmacy compliance with TSBP laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to answer drug information questions and perform interventions as needed
  • Maintain proper inventory management control and utilize computer skills to efficiently complete job tasks
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques used in pharmacy
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to the practice of pharmacy
  • Knowledge of psychiatric pharmacotherapy
  • Skills in the operation of applicable pharmacy computer software
  • Skills in reviewing and interpreting laboratory reports
  • Skills in written and oral communication
  • Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and reports
  • Ability to type accurately based on work requirements
  • Ability to review medication orders for safety and accuracy
Working Conditions:

This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate will be required to work on a regular and predictable schedule, with occasional flexibility to meet the needs of the agency.
