The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist II to join our team at the Austin State Supported Living Center. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for providing technical, clinical, and consultative pharmacy services to support the health and well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpret provider orders, screening for possible interactions, polypharmacy, and/or allergies (DUR functions)
- Dispense correct medications to residents using clinical skills to promote patient safety
- Assist the Pharmacy Director in supervising the dispensing of drugs and direct activities involving pre-packaging, ordering, receiving, and properly storing drugs and supplies
- Supervise pharmacy technicians in the absence of the Pharmacy Director and ensure pharmacy compliance with TSBP laws and regulations
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to answer drug information questions and perform interventions as needed
- Maintain proper inventory management control and utilize computer skills to efficiently complete job tasks
- Knowledge of principles and techniques used in pharmacy
- Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to the practice of pharmacy
- Knowledge of psychiatric pharmacotherapy
- Skills in the operation of applicable pharmacy computer software
- Skills in reviewing and interpreting laboratory reports
- Skills in written and oral communication
- Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and reports
- Ability to type accurately based on work requirements
- Ability to review medication orders for safety and accuracy
This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate will be required to work on a regular and predictable schedule, with occasional flexibility to meet the needs of the agency.
