Job Description

Coherent Laser Systems and Measurement (LSM) is a leading manufacturer of precision solid state lasers and calibrated laser measurement systems. We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in the Coating Process Lab.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and improve coating processes for optical sensor structures using various technologies, including powder, liquid, and vapor coating.
  • Design, specify, and repair tooling, mechanical fixtures, electrical equipment, process controls, chemical processes, and measurement methods to support continuous product introductions and cost reduction.
  • Analyze data to evaluate process efficiency and quality, and implement manufacturing solutions to improve performance.
  • Collaborate with internal Supply Chain and vendors to identify cost reductions, eliminate quality issues, and reduce lead-times.
  • Qualify new products and alternate Bill of Materials (BoM) items, and resolve manufacturing issues involving non-compliant product or material.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, such as Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or Optics/Photonics.
  • 5+ years' experience in high-tech Process Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering environment related to deposition onto substrates.
  • Strong understanding of industrial coating technologies, equipment facilities, control systems, electronics, and PLCs.
  • Experience with high vacuum equipment and/or processing, and background in critical measurement and analysis techniques.
  • Ability to collect, review, and interpret statistical data, and implement manufacturing solutions.
  • Strong commitment to safety, with knowledge of safety concerns and mitigation strategies.
