About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Perioperative Nursing Professional to join our team at the University of Kentucky. As a member of our perioperative services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, working closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals. This position requires a strong foundation in nursing principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of perioperative nursing practices, including anesthesia administration, surgical site preparation, and post-anesthesia care. You will be expected to maintain accurate records and documentation, adhere to regulatory requirements and hospital policies, and participate in ongoing education and training to enhance your skills and knowledge in perioperative nursing. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment, ensuring a safe and efficient workflow
- Administer anesthesia, monitor patient vital signs, and provide support during surgical procedures
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account the unique needs and circumstances of each patient
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless transitions between departments and levels of care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practice guidelines

Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Current RN licensure in the state of Kentucky
- At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a surgical or perioperative environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care
