About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Animal Care Specialist to join our Insourcing Solutions team at Charles River Laboratories, Inc.

As an Animal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for sanitizing, maintaining, and repairing animal cagewash materials, ensuring a clean and safe environment for our animal subjects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sanitize and maintain animal cagewash materials, adhering to strict quality assurance standards
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on cagewash and autoclaves to ensure optimal performance
  • Maintain animal holding facilities in a clean and organized state, adhering to company standards
  • Assist with receipt, stocking, and maintenance of inventory supplies, ensuring timely delivery of essential materials
  • Become involved in animal care and husbandry of multiple animal species, working closely with our experienced animal care team
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in animal care or a related field preferred
  • Knowledge of detergent/disinfectant and operating knowledge of sanitization and sterilization equipment
  • Cagewash experience a plus; willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures
  • Ability to obtain the ALAT (Assistant Lab Animal Technician) Certification within 1 year of eligibility

Our standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 7AM-3:30PM, with occasional flexibility to accommodate business needs.
