Patient Care Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a caring and compassionate Patient Care Assistant to join our team at the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the needs of our patients and families.

About the Role:

In this rewarding role, you will work under the guidance of our Registered Nurses to provide developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care to patients in our care area. Your duties will include completing non-clinical procedures, performing other assigned tasks, and ensuring that you meet the minimum education, certification, and experience requirements outlined below.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per annum

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must meet one of the following requirements:
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse program with completion of at least one semester of clinical rotation.
  • Previous Nursing Care Partner experience at CHKD (within 2 years).
  • Completion of the nursing student extern program at CHKD.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school program (without successful completion of the NCLEX board exam).
  • Certification as a nurse assistant.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a normal patient care environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and similar conditions. However, you may be exposed to communicable disease and moderately adverse working conditions due to the performance of certain patient care activities.
